How to use Thinkr from Claude Code, Cursor, and other MCP clients

Create a Thinkr API token, add Thinkr to your MCP client, and let your AI assistant read PRDs and run critiques for you.

Guide

Thinkr works as an MCP server, so an AI assistant like Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, or GitHub Copilot can read your PRDs and run Thinkr's critique on your behalf. This guide creates a token, connects your client, and shows what to ask once it's connected.

Before you start

  • Your workspace needs to be on Solo, Team, or Enterprise. On Free, the Connect via MCP card shows See plans instead.
  • You need an MCP client that supports remote servers over Streamable HTTP with a custom header. Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, and GitHub Copilot in VS Code all do.

Step 1, Create a token

Open Integrations from the sidebar. Under Use Thinkr from your AI tools, click Create a token on the Connect via MCP card.

Fill in the dialog:

  • Token name, something you'll recognise later, like Claude Code on my laptop.
  • Workspace, the workspace this token works in. It can only see that workspace's PRDs and critiques, and any critique it runs counts against that workspace's usage.
  • Expires, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or never. 90 days is the default.

Click Create token. Thinkr shows the token once. Copy it now, because Thinkr only keeps a hash and can't show it again. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one.

Step 2, Add Thinkr to your client

Right below the token, pick your client and copy the setup.

Claude Code: run the command in your terminal.

claude mcp add --transport http thinkr https://app.usethinkr.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"

Cursor: add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or merge it into your existing mcpServers.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thinkr": {
      "url": "https://app.usethinkr.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}

Antigravity: in the agent panel, open … → MCP Servers → Manage MCP Servers → View raw config, then merge this into mcpServers. Antigravity only reads serverUrl, so the Cursor setup (which uses url) won't connect here.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thinkr": {
      "serverUrl": "https://app.usethinkr.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}

GitHub Copilot (VS Code): run MCP: Open User Configuration from the Command Palette and merge this into servers. Copilot picks it up in agent mode.

{
  "servers": {
    "thinkr": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://app.usethinkr.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}

Use your user configuration rather than a .vscode/mcp.json in a repository, so the token doesn't get committed with your code.

Other clients: point them at https://app.usethinkr.com/mcp with the header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN.

The setup Thinkr shows already has your token filled in, so you don't need to edit it.

Step 3, Ask your assistant

Thinkr gives your assistant five tools: list_prds, get_prd, critique_prd, get_critique, and list_critiques. You don't call them by name. Just ask:

  • "List my Thinkr PRDs about checkout."
  • "Critique the Checkout redesign PRD with Thinkr."
  • "Run a Thinkr critique on the PRD in this file, then fix the high-severity findings."

A critique takes a few minutes. The assistant starts it, then checks back until it's done, and gets the 0–100 score, the readiness band, and the findings ordered by severity. The full pass-by-pass review is always one click away in Thinkr; every result includes a link.

Each person can have two MCP critiques running at once. If your assistant tries to start a third, Thinkr asks it to wait for one to finish.

Manage your tokens

Back on Integrations, the card shows how many active tokens you have. Click Manage tokens to see each one's workspace, when it was last used, and when it expires. Revoke cuts off every client using that token immediately.

Tokens also follow workspace membership: if you're removed from a workspace, your tokens for it stop working on the next call, with nothing to clean up.

What's not supported yet

Adding Thinkr as a connector inside claude.ai or the ChatGPT app needs a sign-in flow that isn't available yet. For now, use a client that accepts a custom header, like Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, or GitHub Copilot in VS Code.

Ready to try it? Open Thinkr and click Integrations.
