How to connect ClickUp in Thinkr
Connect ClickUp to unlock context scanning, inline doc search in the Coach, and one-click send-to-ClickUp from a published PRD.
· 2 min read
ClickUp is Thinkr's live integration, and connecting it pays off in three places: the Coach can search your ClickUp docs inline, the Context step can scan your workspace for prior PRDs and specs, and a finished PRD can be sent to ClickUp in one click. This guide connects it and shows where each payoff shows up.
Before you start
You'll need two things from ClickUp:
- A Personal API Token — in ClickUp, go to Settings → Apps → API Token.
- Your Workspace ID — it's the number in your ClickUp URL:
app.clickup.com/id/home.
Step 1 — Connect ClickUp
Open Integrations from the sidebar. ClickUp is the available card — "Enables Context Scan to find your existing PRDs, tech docs, and API specs." (the others — Linear, Slack, Jira, GitHub, Notion — are marked Coming soon). Click Connect.
In the Connect ClickUp dialog, paste your Personal API Token and Workspace ID, then click Connect. The card flips to Connected. To change credentials or remove the connection later, click Manage — the dialog has a Disconnect option.
Step 2 — Search ClickUp inline while you coach
In the PRD Coach, type /clickup followed by a query to search ClickUp docs (PRDs, RFCs, 1-pagers) without leaving the chat. Results come back inline as a card you can pull from — so your brief builds on what your team already wrote.
Step 3 — Scan your workspace for context
In a PRD's Context step, the Workspace Connector uses your ClickUp connection. Click Scan workspace and Thinkr searches ClickUp for relevant material, then lists what it Discovered — Core references, Dependencies, Related initiatives, Risks, and Stakeholders — so the draft builds on prior work instead of reinventing it.
If the Context step shows "ClickUp not connected", the scan is disabled until you finish Step 1 — it'll point you to where to set the token and workspace ID. Connect once and every PRD can scan.
Step 4 — Send a finished PRD to ClickUp
When a PRD is published, open the Save & Share menu and choose Send to ClickUp. Thinkr pushes the spec into ClickUp as a Doc, so the work you scoped lands where your team tracks it.
That's the loop
Connect once with a token and workspace ID, then ClickUp shows up exactly where you need it — searching as you coach, scanning for context, and receiving the finished spec. It closes the gap between writing a PRD in Thinkr and shipping it in your tracker.
